In Nepal, 6% of the GNP is allocated to the public health care system (compared to 12% in France). Life expectancy is of 68 years which is close to the world average (70 years). High child mortality, due in part to the fact that only 1 woman out of three give birth in a hospital, brings the average down. It’s also important to factor in that only 2 out of 5 births are registered, making the numbers inaccurate.
